Eenang has been interning with Hennepin County in their Child Protection Family Assessment Unit since September 2014. She will continue her work there though May of 2015. Below Eenang briefly describes what she is Driven to Discover in her field placement this year.
“As an advanced standing student, I know that my MSW internship is an opportunity to acquire direct practice experiences in the child welfare field. I am currently doing my internship at Hennepin County in the Child Protection Family Assessment unit with Pauline Shimada-Hayward as my Task Supervisor. With the time allotted for my internship at Hennepin County, I am driven to discover what the child protection field encompasses. It is imperative to me that I learn and see in action how state and federal regulations and laws are being applied. I believe it is within these complex procedures that I will gain a comprehension to how and why social workers are utilized and needed. In addition, I hope to experience and see how social workers become change agents in the lives of families and various communities by utilizing services and best practices. Furthermore, I aim to explore what the daily tasks are for county social workers and learn how to manage the demands in health methods to prevent being burned out. It is with these objectives in mind that I intern at Hennepin County with much enthusiasm and eagerness.”
