Presenters
Lisa Merkel-Holguin, MSW, is the Director of the National Center on Family Group Decision Making and an Assistant Research Professor at the Kempe Center at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. She has been involved in child welfare practice, policy, and research for almost 25 years.
Annette Semanchin Jones, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo School of Social Work.
Panelists in the afternoon include local practitioners and stakeholders discussing implementation and impact of culturally responsive practices in child welfare.

We are co-sponsoring the Ambit Network’s Annual Traumatic Stress Conference on using and adapting evidence-based interventions to help children and families. This conference will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at The DQ Room in TCF Bank Stadium.
Presentations include “Cultural adaptations: Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” by Dr. Judith Cohen of the Center for Traumatic Stress in Children and Adolescents, Allegheny General Hospital, and “Delivering evidence-based interventions in cultural communities” by Dr. BraVada Garrett-Akinsanya of Brakins Consulting and Psychological.
Those who register for and attend both the CASCW annual spring child welfare conference and the Ambit Network’s annual traumatic stress conference will receive free parking on the day of the Ambit Network conference.
