Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Statewide Conference

| $35.Across the state, counties and tribes are wrestling with more difficult and complicated cases, a workforce shortage and trying to comply with new regulations for child protection.
Multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) are mentioned in the Governor’s Task Force recommendations as a best practice. Working with the right expert, at the right time, can minimize trauma to children and youth as they have the opportunity to receive optimal services when needed.
PLEASE NOTE: Only child protection professionals can register or invite individuals to participate to this conference. You must have at least 2 team members represented at the conference from an existing MDT or invite those you would like to become members from your County or Tribal MDT. Each individual team member must be registered and identify which team they are associated with.
- Learn how MDTs can improve outcomes and make the process easier
- Learn how to incorporate MDTs into the screening process
- Learn and apply protocols for setting up MDTs
- Have time with your team to discuss how to use MDTs in your environment and build team relationships

Workshop A:
In workshop A we will review specific case types and situations as they present in the screening process. The team will then discuss how to use a MDT to make the process clearer and more effective and reduce re-traumatization of the children involved. Three members of the DHS Screening and Assessment team will present.
Workshop B:
In workshop B a panel from an established MDT will discuss how to use MDTs for ongoing case management, case coordination, termination and closing cases and family engagement for more complicated cases.
We look forward to hearing more about your ideas for what is needed to maintain this work. Please note that a follow-up plan for supporting and maintaining teamwork following the conference will be presented at the end of the day.
