The purpose of this training is to describe the conditions under which children disclose sexual abuse during forensic interviews when law enforcement and child protection professionals have reason to believe child sexual abuse has occurred.
Upon completion of this module, learners will be able to identify the patterns of disclosure during forensic interviews among children who have been sexually abused in addition to understanding how these patterns are associated with contextual factors, such as family support and children’s perception of consequences of disclosure. Additionally, learners will be able to apply findings from this study to assess children’s readiness to disclose and provide support when contextual factors may inhibit disclosure.
