Minnesota’s Child Protection System: Working Toward More Effective Data-Based Decision Making

In 2015, the Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children emphasized the critical need to pay close attention to the responsible and effective use of data in case decision making. How do Minnesota child protection professionals currently access and use date in their practice and policy decisions? What improvements in data collection and use are needed? How can a better data-based decision making system be realistically implemented?

Please join us on Friday, September 23, 2016 for a policy breakfast discussion focused on the next steps in data use and development for work in the field. Panelists include:

• Representative Ron Kresha, member of the Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children and current Chair of the Legislative Task Force on Child Protection,
• Jamie Sorenson, Director of the Child Safety and Permanency Division, Children and Family Services Administration at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, and
• Dr. Kristine Piescher, Director of Research and Evaluation at the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Traci LaLiberte, Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare and Graduate Faculty member in the College of Education and Human Development.
