Current Status
- 3/2/2017: Introduction and first reading
- 3/2/2017: Referred to Human Services Reform Finance and Policy
Short Description
Modifies uses for state funds for child protection, adding the option for training and retaining screening, investigation and case management staff.
Key Points
- Funds in this section were previously to be used only for addressing staffing for child protection or expanding child protection services. This bill allows for counties to also use the funds to provide training to screening, investigation and case management staff, as well as improving retention for child protection staff.
- Also changes the structure of payments to counties, increasing to 90% the amount that must be paid by July 10 each year, from 80%, and reduces to 5% the amount that can be withheld until the commissioner determines whether the county fulfilled its performance obligation regarding face-to-face contact with child victims of screened-in reports.
- The allocation amount has not yet been determined.
