Short Description
Establishes a child well-being model grant program.
Key Points
- Defines child well-being: “Child well-being” means that a child is supported in the child’s family, school, and community to have basic competencies in the following domains:
- appropriate brain development and ability to learn;
- the ability to have age-appropriate social and emotional relationships with family, peers, and community members;
- psychological and behavioral development;
- physical health; and
- spiritual and cultural well-being, with the child as an essential participant and valued member of the child’s community.
- Establishes grant program to improve child well-being with a $10,000,000 general fund appropriation to DHS to administer the program.
- Grant program would fund up to three social services agencies to develop, implement and evaluate programs that improve child well-being as defined.
- Allocates $33,350,000 for FY2018 and FY 2019 to DHS from the general fund for child protection staffing and services
