Today is my last day as Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW). For nearly 4 years I’ve been blogging about child welfare policy and tracking bills going through the Minnesota legislature related to child welfare (and for a brief period, federal bills related to child welfare). I’ve loved every minute of it, from my start as a Master of Social Work intern blogging about Minnesota’s government shutdown in 2011 (what an introduction to child welfare policy blogging!) to providing coverage on the Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children.
Tracy Crudo (formerly the Director of Outreach) summed up our work together pretty neatly in her post about leaving the Center (“Change is in the Air at CASCW“), so I’m going to instead focus on what I want to get across to you, our readers: Thank you for reading our blogs and for your engagement, especially in our policy work. I’ve been fortunate to work with several talented interns and graduate assistants, who have provided their insight to further develop CASCW’s public policy initiative. I am so very thankful to CASCW staff for supporting my passion for public policy.
I will continue my public policy journey at the Minnesota Department of Human Services as an adoption policy specialist, beginning next week. Working at CASCW and contributing to the child welfare knowledge base through policy, social media, and research has truly been a pleasure, and I’m sure I will encounter many of you in the future. Thank you for all that you do for children and families involved in child welfare, and thank you for engaging in policy with me.
