The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare and the Center for Early Education and Development are cosponsoring a Round Table Discussion regarding how early childhood development and child welfare practice interact. This event will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at the Science Museum of Minnesota.
The discussion, entitled “Mobilizing Hope: Using a Developmental Approach in Child Welfare,” will help child welfare professionals better understand how interventions are enhanced by knowing the developmental histories of children and families, and developmental science professionals will benefit from the practice knowledge of social workers in the field. Collaboration between the early childhood and child welfare fields is an important component to effective service delivery. Disrupted environments directly impact development and this impact is patent in the child welfare system. Enhancing the field’s knowledge of this interconnected work will directly benefit families and ultimately help shape policy.
